Danish Hearts, or Julehjerter (Yule Hearts), are woven from paper with an ingenious twist of weaving magic. They’re filled with treats and hung on the Christmas tree to look amazing while they test the willpower of kids all across the Nordic countries. Only when it’s time for the tree to come down for the season are the they finally allowed to plunder the tree for the candy. The famous Danish children’s book author Hans Christian Anderson is credited with creating the first paper julehjerte - which is on display in the Hans Christian Anderson Museum to this day.
This craft is particularly fun and adjustable for all ages and levels. You’ll learn step-by-step how to turn paper into a woven basket in all different colors, sizes, and patterns ranging from simple to complex.
All ages. 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
