Programs + Services

Our classroom is the workshop.
We work with and support non-traditional education programs to create new roads where others trail off.

Our on-location programming and (future) makerspace allow enthusiastic young people to get a glimpse of life as a maker and imagine possible career paths into Portland’s design+build industries.

Participants leave our workshops with practical skills to strengthen their personal and professional lives.

  • Slöyd Experience Sign-up for Classes

  • Slöyd (“handcrafted”) is a system for teaching traditional woodworking and has been taught across the Nordic countries for more than 150 years.  Slöyd is not merely about technical skill; it's focused on fostering character development and life skills, such as self-reliance, concentration, perseverance, neatness and love of labor.

Our program is designed to be rolling.  No matter when students attend class they will pick up from where they left off. Our student-to-instructor ratio is a maximum of 5:1 to ensure individual instruction, attention and safety.
